This is entirely NOT true. In fact if VM had his way, he would have retired last year. Other men sponsor the camps and meetings, and many attend these meetings.

I know that HIS church had their own youth camps dating back quite a ways. Whether or not other churches have joined in since then, I have heard that they have. I was not intending to say anything bad about him, I actually respect the man, I don't agree with a lot that he stands for, but I respect him highly. I was simply stating the truth as I know it, going back years, some of my best friends growing up were from that church. They DID have their own youth camp starting sometime in the 1990's I think, or else people from his church lied to me. And he DID start the PSR conferences, I realize that they have evolved into something else over the years. So I stand by my statement, he has his own system set up without needing much help from anywhere else. Not an attack, just the facts as I see them.

You are right DizzyDe!
I know what you are saying for a fact. VM has over the years become fairly "self contained".

So we cannot have any local church events and all must only attend District functions. Government does for a local church what a local church cannot do for itself. I understand they had 100+ Youth and decided to start a camping event. It was a success so they did it annually. Other churches heard and chimed in. How this becomes rebellion against other meetings is beyond me.

From my Grand-daughter, last night was the biggest first night she has seen at WCC, and she has attended them all. The topics at hand will push attendance for awhile at these events. The main speaker took a big stand against the Internet, among other things. But when you stop at Burger King you expect a hamburger not Sushi ...... right?

I did read and your call to not respond.
If a local church has the ability to have a large meeting, I do not think that is a bad thing. If they have the resources that grow to where that meeting eclipses other area meetings, well that is a struggle for the organization of the OTHER meetings.
Some one commented they could not attend other meetings in that they had spent the budget to attend GC. If a person has a choice in Meeting A, where they enjoy the meeting and Meeting B, where they really do not enjoy the meeting- They will make more of an effort to attend Meeting A.
It is more economics for some. I have been there in years past when I could not take time from work to attend two meetings both equally beneficial.
