Being Laughed At
Does it make you mad when someone laughs at you? Not WITH you but AT you?
Boy it does me.
I debated to write this but since I can't get away from the thought I will share it will hopes it will minister to someone who needs to hear this.
Do you know that the devil laughs at the backsliders? Those who knew the truth and walked away. MOST walked away because someone offended them. Sounds trival when said so matter of factually. But we know offense comes in a mired of different ways, and most are actually quite painful. YET, no one can say God is guilty IF they truly know Him.
Any really tough guy or gal would say "nobody can make me do what I don't want to do". To an extent that is true. However, when you walk away from God you are headed in a direction you didn't intend to go. No one in their right mind wants to go to hell. Yet, that is the destination UNLESS they turn back around to Jesus and then THEY can LAUGH at the devil!
What is worse than a saint backsliding? A preacher! Their torment will be so much worse. And when that final day comes and we stand before God at judgement day, I think all of our excuses are going to sound mighty puny.
I pray that someone would truly get mad at the devil and turn back to God. For the record, I didn't say UPC, but Jesus!
Let Him heal your wounds and guide and direct your steps to the life he wants for you.
The time is so short and we don't know if we have tomorrow. I truly pray you will be ready to meet Him in Glory with your souls saved.
God bless you and remember to pray for the backsliders.

Esther,
Thanks for sharing what was on y0our heart and mind. I am sure it was meant for somebody that will read it here.
I don't know if most walk away because of offense but without dispute many do.
It reminds me of the old joke about the guy who wouldn't go to church because there were "too many hypocrites there".
It is hard to press through injustice and offense but if our relationship with the Lord is nurtured and maintained then no wrong done by another person can come between us and God.

God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we're in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ. ~Romans 3:24 from The Message

Yes, the devil does laugh when someone falls for his deception.
But whats worse...?
Having God laugh at us. "I will laugh at your calamity and I will mock when your fear comes", I quote from memory. This God said of those who reject His often repeted admonitions. Great post to help us stay of the straight and narrow, Sister.

Nope. Memory was the 2nd thing. Hair was the first.

I had forgotten about that scripture. Rather sobering.
