Dear Dr. Phil, what is a secular view of the home?

Good heavens, I am wondering why I didn't see that the reporter or news anchor droping everything, running to the front to receive the Name, revelation, tongues, leaving their jewelry at the front, repenting??

I think the UPC should give a class to all their ministers how to explain standards, this was pathetic good old fashioned UPC-speak that only the blue-haired ladies in his church could probably identify with. You wonder why the UPC is losing relevance? Here is a good example.

I wonder how many ladies in church would take issue with what he said.

Has NEWMAN been to this thread yet?

I hope women are offended the way he presented it.

The part I noticed was when he said standards were to help them stay christians. I've been around long enough to know otherwise.

And also when the ministry starts paying my bills then they can decide who works. I would love to see the amount of preachers who live off their wives income. I know two right here in my city.
Can one be a keeper at home and work outside the home at the same time. for he record my wife works.

Actually he would have been better off to say "we insist that..." like a good Baptist would do about their beliefs. He attempted to waffle on it and it came off poorly. To argue the semantics of "force" and "we encourage" is meaningless. It's not forced as long as you don't want to be a member or involved.

That is the point I'm trying to make but not what he presented. Excuse my crudeness.

Personally I have very little respect for a man that does not pitch in around the house...especially if his wife works full time. But of course that is seemingly a secular viewpoint.

Our pastor stated something to the effect that even if a wife works, her focus should be the home. It's her domain. A husband should support her in such. And yes, us men should help around the house and with the kids. If the husband is suppose to be like Christ in the home, then who should be the greatest servant in the home?????

As far as the interview, i think we should give some grace to the pastor. he's probably not used to being interviewed on a news camera. And maybe he said some stuff in way he might take back now and wish he said it different. Kinda like after preaching i look backed and could have said some things different or didn't mean it like it sounded.

I don't like what he said regarding standards help them stay christains, but maybe he doesn't mean it the way it sounds.

I am certain that this was edited so much that we actually have no idea what the actual interview was like! No apostolic should ever allow themselves to interviewed without insuring that the entire interview will be played.

I agree on all points to a certain extent. I think the pastor said what he meant and if anything was edited more than likely sounded even more ridiculous. One chance....first impression comes to mind.

There are ladies/wives that have stressful high pressure jobs. For those types it would have to be a shared focus. JMO
