My wife has been in Wal Mart with cut hair, makeup, pants on,etc and had people come up to her and tell her they know she is a Christian and strike up a conversation.
I have always thought it was funny when Pentecostal women's dress code was put forth as a witness or evidence of "holiness" when a man can stroll through Wal Mart all day long and look like most of the other men there (and apparently have zero "witness" or "holiness" compared to Pentecostal women).

Call me old fashioned but I have always found that the fruit of the Spirit are much more indicitive of "holiness" or a walk with God than hair in a bun or a long blue jean skirt with tennis shoes and white socks.

Amen -again!
As to the 2nd point, I hear again and again how the dress code has caused someone to to come up and start a conversation which may, or may not, lead to further discussion on Christianity. That is all well and good, but the "dress code" is nothing but a conversation starter. Anything that wouldn't scare someone away, yet cause heads to turn will accomplish the very same thing. And your right..... "holiness" men rarely, if ever, cause the same reaction. I wonder why?

I've had people come to me and say they knew I was a christian...had nothing to do with how I was dressed

I used to see this lady and her daughter at the store all the time with long uncut hair, dresses, no makeup or jewelry...every day all the time. So I figured they were Apostolic. I approached her and asked and she indignantly said NO. I have heard of other groups in our area that have the standards but are not pentecostal at all...

Why, were we wrong in allowing us to pray for my wife? We didn't ask what she believed or where she went to church. I didn't think that really mattered.

LOL...I remember when I went into the hospital. It was at the last moment and I did not have time to call anyone. This girl came to visit me...well she was a young woman in her 20's I guess, but she came to visit/ She was a Lutheran working for the hospital (I think it was volunter work).
She contacted my pastor to let them know I was here. Then we prayed. She commented that she could tell I had a lot of faith. I have to tell you I don't give a hoot how she was dressed and what church she was a member of. It was very comforting and uplifting for me.
