Big-Larry
Big Larry,

Sherri is married to Glendon Nance and they are showing up in the church directory as being in Chelsea, but I thought they were in Blackwell. I will have to give Aunt Niecey a call and find out.

I watched Jonathan grow up and he ALWAYS had rythym. When he was around 2, Bro. and Sis Turner would put pots and buckets up by the first pew and he would take spoons and play the drums. I think he got his first real set of drums at 3 or 4. He is a wonderfully talentedl man and greatly used of God!

I remember LW coming to Elmore City for a youth function along with either Bro. Donald Deck near the end of his reign as Youth Pres or Dan Rigdon near the beginning of his. We thought we had moved up in the world to have the LW trio performing in the boondocks of OK. LOL

We really do need to get together soon and catch up on all the places our paths cross!

Thanks for trying to keep the Davids straight... the Lord tried and it was tough even for him!

Actually it is David Hudspeth. and CrakJak knows exactly which David Big Larry was talking about... certainly that it was not Dave Petersen.

Very seriously doubt that!

Yes we must get together. Elmore City ? Then you know my cousins Bobby and Rosie? Rosie married a rich DR out of OK City. (gossip)

Sherrie and Glendon must have taken the Chelsea church after IAM went to Longview. IAM could clear that up for us.

Actually, when I was in Oklahoma preaching for Sherrie's mom and dad in October, I thought they were still in Blackwell. I am not sure. It appears that Blackwell is now open and they are in Chelsea. That would be a recent development.

My mom and dad, Lynn and Lawana Jones, pastored the church in Duncan for 7 years before they came to Louisiana. After they left David was elected pastor.

Mom was raised in the Elmore City church and Dad prayed through there after dating her for a little while. He actually got the Holy Ghost before she did. Bro. Frank Parkey was their pastor and I believe was kin to your aunt Helen.

I would like to share my remembrance of LW and Marietta. I attended Gateway the first year that it opened - 1968. LW arrived to teach business (typing) and music. LanaMarie was a baby and I remember Marietta bringing her to a class she taught (can't recall what course it was) in a baby carrier.

Singing in both choir and chorale we were taught the importance of true worship. My recollections of LW were that of an intercessor and worshipper who taught us we could do nothing in our own ability. I recall hearing him alone in the chapel praying - what an impression this made on my life. He not only stressed to us the need to worship but he also demonstrated this to us.

I attended until 1971 and in all of that time never did I hear of or observe any questionable behavior.

Perhaps the many wonderful worship songs he wrote were a result of these times alone in prayer. How very sad the fact that choices made in one's life can in essence affect the lives of many people. As food for thought - perhaps we as God's people were deprived of many other beautiful songs that could have been because of lost focus on the One who deserves our worship.

Sorry this is so long but just wanted to share this newbie's thoughts.

WV - Great is thy faithfulness Oh God!
