I just think it is the humane thing to do. My dogs are pets first and if they happen to make babies that is great. If they do make babies I neuter them after the second litter. One of the main reasons with my Bassets is that they are long bodied and prone to back issues without the extra strain of a litter of 8 to 10 pups adding weight on their spines. I guess there are a lot of reasons but the main one is that although I know it is natural they struggle so much and I just can't stand to see them go through it more than twice. I guess the second time reminds me of how i felt after the first time and I just say "no mas"!
I will say that at 300 to 500 bucks a pup it is very profitable but that is not my ultimate goal. I have pups placed from NC to CA.
