Take them to another lonely person or give as a gift to your landlord, postman, elderly neighbor!

Eat a couple yourself before spreading the cheer!

That would require removing my hermit self from my home. lol

It might also require my VAN to RUN. Don't ask..it's my own fault and I just have to figure out how to solve this problem without a vehicle now. lol

Well, I'm encouraging to do it!

Little secret of mine - it's hard to get down or feel sorry for yourself when you are encouraging others!

That's what I'm doing. This is my first year that I've been completely alone and don't have someone home with me, but I've not let it change one thing.

I have all my decorations up, I've been cooking/baking and tried to do everything I was invited to so it'd fill in the void for me. Now, I'm busy getting prepared for my kids to "come home" - wrapping presents, making food for us to eat the next few days, listening to Christmas music or watching Christmas movies and anticipating them kids getting here!

It's what we make it. I hear your sadness in your post - - get up off your duff and start baking those cookies and playing that Christmas loud!!!!!

Love ya!
Renda, it must be hard to have your kids married and not at home anymore, especially the very first Christmas. At least they are coming home...

I've been baking, listening to Christmas music and making candies, the tree is up, the presents are wrapped...but for me it's always been the family get-together on Christmas Eve, it was the highlight...and I cannot really re-create that out here with the 7 us. I am somewhat disappointed that we will not have a ham this year either...our guest does not do pork AT ALL...so we are having roast beef...that is so un-christmasy!!! LOL

Love ya too...will be thinking of you on Christmas!

I understand. That all has changed for me too. My ex's family is loud and big and they all still love me, but I won't be with them for Christmas and since my mom has passed on, things are different there too. I miss the extended family gatherings!

I'm just trying grasp that now I'm the family and I want to make it where my kids want to always come back "home" with me even though we are small. I will be going to my Dad's on Christmas and there will be 11 of us, so that's better than just the four of us the whole time.

Take the kids out driving around to see all the lights and decorations - - Chicago should be lit up like a Christmas tree!

Sounds like you'll have a lovely time at your Dad's...I commend you for making the best of it this year Renda, I like your spirit!

I love looking at the decorations - I haven't done that yet, so maybe I'll do that tonight before my daughter comes in - - she won't be interested in that at all - lol!

Another fun thing that we do is when we are together we will watch videos of past Christmases.

Oh, that sounds like fun...we don't have any. I can take heart that we will be home next Christmas and won't have to miss out again.

Honestly, the more I think about it, I think it's just my hormones getting me so down today...this too shall pass!!
