All these deathbead conversion ceremonies make me want to add one more complication:

Assuming I'm a three-stepper:

Which is God more likely to save? - A person who has never heard the Gospel and repents on their deathbed and only repents?

Or

Someone who has heard the Gospel before (once or many times) and only at their death do they decide to repent?

It would seem to me that #2 already had their chance.

Of course I can't know for sure since I can't imagine it.

This could loop for a while

"Imagine Reality!" That would make a good post-postmodern catch phrase.

What does come after "Postmodern" any way? Aren't we there yet?

According to this, Postmodern may not have even happened. We're still "modern" in some people's eyes. In others, "modernity" has failed - except for the air conditioning and Starbucks, they won't give up their treats.

Personally I question the underlying assumption of this thread, "Where are the Acts 2:38 folks (3-steppers)?" The question is presented in the typical Postmodern method of "question framing."

That is, the question itself is designed to provide its own answer. Thus, if you already have the answer, what is the point in asking a question - unless that is precisely the point! You're not "asking," you're "telling."

And so, I ask "Where are the traditional Acts 2:38 people? The ones who discovered a remarkable truth and were eager to share it with their brethren?" And, "Why have so many left the old paths of Acts 2:38 salvation and adopted sectarian exclusivism and condemnation?"

Whatever happened to the A.D. Urshans, John Dearings, Stanley Chambers, Howard Goss and A.T. Morgans and the W.T. Witherspoons among us? Did we drive them out for being "weak on the message?"

The person is dying, Pel. What difference does it make if these things get wet?
