I was the SAME way growing up in my Dad's church. I had what my Daddy always called "preacher religion." I pretty much only tuned in when he was preaching, and tuned out to doodle when most others stepped up to the pulpit.
I do try not to do that now, BUT I have to say my pastor is my favorite speaker. He always preaches new and interesting things. I have a hard time "tuning in" to anyone else.

Kind of like your posts about ranking preachers was drifting away from the original point, which was to compliment Bro. White? I agree: That was pointless.
...have I won yet? (Not that I'm keeping score; that would be carnal.)

Okay, maybe not. Obviously I stepped in, and I have no dog in this fight, so to speak.
Maybe sparring is just plain old fun sometimes.

Well, I hope so. I want them to love this life as much as I do, and have respect for those who preach the message.
I pray that they see Jesus in their Brothers and Sisters in the Body of Christ.

The Brother turned to me and said that he watched my daughter when I climbed behind the pulpit and started to preach, and how she placed down her book and focused right on what I was saying. I feel everyone loves to hear their preacher preach, it doesn't make them preacher worshippers. Unless they go far beyond listening to just the preaching and following someone when they do wrong.
