Lost. Anyone who hasn't obeyed and received Acts 2:38 in it's entirety is lost. To make any acception would compromise the gospel.

I don't believe one can be saved without obeying Acts 2:38 in it's entirety. If Acts 2:38 only saved one generation up until 1914 it is the unadulterated truth of what one must do to be saved. That's what I believe the Bible to teach.

If you want to teach that Acts 2:38 (as I call it ABI 2:38) will make a person's soul Election sure that is onething.

Why would anyone make a statement (Is Lost) that ultimately only God knows at the end of anyone's journey who is and will be saved....

There is a false hope even in Acts 2:38.

Many believe it to be the ultimate of salvational truths.

They cling to the unchanging hands of Acts 2:38.

Acts 2:38 is the beginning of the Journey and their is much that can be lost after sealing the deal.

It's like marriage today.

Many start the Journey out with a vow and end in a court.

Yes Acts 2:38 starts the journey...but unless it's obeyed the journey never begins.

John Huss? Lost.

Yep, I can see clearly now the rain is gone...

I can see exactly the reason we have failed to reach this lost and dying world.

Why on EARTH would supposed Men of God sit around and condemn others to hell? Did God assign you that job? Where is YOUR fruit?

GOD will judge. Your job is to teach, encourage, and train others for their ministries. Let God be God!!

To be honest... based on what I'm reading here... I think there are quite a few preachers (and ADMIN too!!!) who might want to seek the voice of God. I believe you are so consumed with proving a point, with "being right"...

And I ask, Which church has it ALL RIGHT? None! Only GOD knows all.

I beseech you, my brethren...

Teach the LOVE of God... and sinners WILL repent... and WILL be baptized in Jesus' Name... and the Holy Ghost WILL fall... and miracles WILL happen... and people will WANT to be associated with us ... and God will add to the church daily. It is THAT EASY! Let God do the work!

And in the end, it won't matter how many steps it took me to get there... what will matter is, I'll be there. Because YOU did your job... and because GOD did His!

In Jesus' Name, this is my prayer.

P.S. One more word of advice... when you are giving your "opinion", be sure to qualify it as "opinion" and not gospel.

What do you even know about John Hus? Thankfully you did not write the Gospel.

Let me try this articulation (then you can tear it apart so I can see what it looks like when you're done ):

If baptism cannot save us apart from the work that Jesus Christ has already done, then how can you say baptism is an "essential" element to salvation?

Consider 1 Peter 3:21. This verse states that baptism "saves us" but it emphasizes that the means by which baptism accomplishes this is an event that happened 2000 years ago. Ergo: we are saved by that older event.

In fact water baptism in Jesus name would be meaningless without the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Peter seems to push the physical aspects of baptism aside rather roughly. It's the believer's faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ that's key here. And if we are saved by faith when we are baptized, then we are saved by faith period (Ephesians 2:8).

1 Peter 3:21 Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you--not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience--through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. NASB

1 Peter 3:21 And this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also--not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. NIV

1 Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. KJV

So theologically, how does baptism save us? It's by faith. It involves an accounting procedure that God Himself performs. It's usually best to leave such accounting up to Him. The last guy who tried to take over didn't fare too well.

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Judgmental attitudes of ONE VERSE CHARLIES are so repugnant and repulsive until it is a TOTAL turn off since it is seen as an affront to the mercies and Graciousness of a Good God.

Presumptivness is an abhorent attitude. The truth is, only God can judge these matters. Another truth is that the heavenly journey neither begins or ends with Acts 2:38.

Bro. Ferd,

Just saw your post while browsing this morning. I also saw your LOL so

know it was TIC. The proverbial son in law or mother in law! LOL!!

Anyway, we HAD three son in laws and three daughters in law! But

after so many years married to our adult children, they have BECOME our

sons and daughters. We love them and would never want anything to

seperate them. We love them as our own.

That, I believe is what keeps strong families. Loving those who come into

our family as our OWN. Not making a difference. Thinking of each couple as

ONE. Not my son or my daughter and my in-law, etc., but ALL OUR CHILD-

REN. Why are they all still married to each other. I believe FAMILY LOVE or

LOVE throughout ALL the family makes it a secure place to live. And JESUS

smack dab in the MIDDLE of THE FAMILY, in each one individually and

collectively. FAMILY prayer support and love when there is a crisis. Praying

together until the "storm" passes by! Who wants to leave that kind of

support and security.

Even in our extended family, when a home is broken, we still love and

let that one who is seperated from the family, know that we will always

love them. Even after they are married again. We just "enlarge" our circle

of love to include that "new" one, including the one who has been "broken"

off, and include their new companion. Someone is going to influence them

to or for God. It might as well be me! If HE is in me!!! He makes the diffe-

rence!

Love really does COVER a multitude of sins. And we've all sinned and come

short of HIS GLORY!!

Bro. Ferd, This is not to criticize anything you said, but it provoked me

to thought. Just built on your post!! Thanks!

Blessings,

Falla39

Nice try but no cigar. I am not essentially a one stepper. I am believer in the fullness of the Word of God. As I read the Word I understand that upon an introduction to the cross of Christ, His shed blood, and the resurrecting power of the Spirit, a man will be moved by conviction to a position of faith in the power of the totality of the monumental historical and spiritual event of Calvary. When faith in a man's heart responds to the whole of God's Word being preached that man will repent of his sin, be baptized in water in Jesus name for express purpose of remitting (washing away) his sin, and will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in other tongues, thus completing the process of regeneration, being raised up to walk in newness of life. The same faith that moved him to properly respond to the Gospel will also cause him to place himself wholly in the hands of God as a new creature. That same faith will cause him to desire things that are Godly (holy and righteous and full of love). That same faith will cause him to be empowered through submission and sacrifice of self will and the embracing of a heavenly will by the continuing work of the Holy Ghost in his life.

I dare say that I believe by grace are we saved through faith and that not of ourselves... but to say I am a one stepper or a three stepper would be a misnomer. I believe that the faith that saves is the faith that guides every step of our lives from the point of initial belief in our need and His ability to meet our need. I am still being saved by faith as I submit my will to his BY FAITH!

that is just how a siimple minded country boy from Oklahoma sees the Word of God.

That said, God is sovereign, and can do what He will when He will... I do not have that luxury... I am responsible for the Word I have been given (personally I believe God is just as committed to the Word as I am but I do not dare to be so bold as to say I have a complete handle on all God is and all He can and will do in mercy) so I preach both the fullness of the Gospel and the proper initial and ongoing response to the gospel while never discounting the ability of mercy to cross boundaries that appear to be clear in the Word, i.e. the Syrophenician woman whose daughter was possessed of devils.

I think it is pretty clear that I am NOT a one stepper. I think it should also be clear that I begin all my study with a Sovereign God and go forward from there. I have no problem reconciling the Word of a Sovereign God with the Sovereign God Himself.
