Darcie's Husband Ordained this Morning
We ordained JC and one of our youth pastors this morning! It was a short ceremony that was a part of our regular service. But they take vows and kneel while Eddie puts a shawl on them and prays over them. He speaks a little and then we present them with new Bibles and certificates of ordination. It was very sweet!
Now we are at a staff retreat at Pickwick State Park, and JC and Darcie are getting to know everyone real well. These kinds of trips let you know who people REALLY are. It will be a good three days! There are 18 of us, including spouses. We are seeking God for direction for 2008 and beyond.

Great. Tell us more about the shawl/vestments.

It's just a formality - something for them to keep. When Bro. Urshan ordained Eddie years ago, he gave him a symbolic white towel, which he still has after all these years. It's just a reminder of the passing of the mantle.
