Pianoman started this thread:

Druggies in the pulpit: UPC Pastors with Hidden Addictions!!!!! ...

Nothing would surprise me anymore but I am not personally aware of anyone fitting this description.

It's sad when people get joy out of seeing someone fall into sin! It's like they glory in it when a UPC pastor does it!

True, pastors in every denomination have their fair share of problems. But I will say that UPCI preacher in particular are famous for preaching about sin and how holy everyone needs to be with no sports, TV, no rings, no cutting hair, etc, etc. So I think it put a big target on them for when or if they mess up.

I have heard numerous preacher degrade trinity preachers and preachers from all other organizations saying that they are false prophets and this and that.

I have heard alot of hate preached from the pulpit. So I don't think you should be so surprised to hear someone call pastors from time to time on their sin too.

You'd think the UPCI were the only Christian group with human ministers... all the rest must have Angels.
You are correct! Additions of prescription drugs or porn happens to preachers in every denomination.

We just so happen to be an Apostolic forum, and the UPC is the largest Apostolic organization.

I know of instances that I was mentioning, but I thought about it and erased them.

Some preachers try to come across as perfect, and expect perfection in their saints. The truth is that some of these same men hide some flaws of their own!

A preacher that I know very well got a DUI!!!

Im not a pastor but you will find my addiction at the bottom of my post...

well, not any more anyway. but is it wrong to be chemically addicted to a pain killer that you really need so long as you remain within the prescribed limits and are under a doctors care?

How does "We just so happen to be an Apostolic forum" and "The UPC is the largest" justify that? That is just asinine...not that you are asinine mind you but that is just asinine...Is your church Apostolic? How many members does it have? Maybe it's the largest so we can start speculating on whether or not the ministers and pastors all have porn addictions...see? Ain't funny is it?

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Chemically addicted? Do you know what that means?
Addiction is a very powerful thing that we should not take lightly.

And by the way- just because a doctor prescribes you something doesn't mean you need or have to take it. If you know you are weak with pain meds...better not tempt your body and your weakness or it might end up hurthing you.

I'm not surprised to hear pastors sin also. They are as human as we are and they are not above sin. They struggle with flesh just like you and I. I just get tired of hearing about a "UPC" pastor..... It just sounds like a bunch of disgruntled people happy to find a UPC man in sin!
