If someone knowingly resisted the baptism of the Spirit then I would call that stubborness, willful resistance, and rebellion.
Why do some folks think the baptism of the Spirit is not for them? The saddest reason, in my mind, is that they are content that they are saved already and don't need to receive this gift even though it is commanded by Peter. Are they willfully disobeying the word of the Lord? Maybe.
Have you read the posts about the AOG and the percentage of those that go on to be baptized with the Holy Spirit? It's very disheartening.
Felicity, I know how you and TB teach on salvation and though I disagree, you stress the necessity of obeying Acts 2:38 and you expect believers will attend to these things but others don't teach it as you do.

Mizpeh........
I had a response all typed out last evening, but it vanished into a black hole. I'll start again.

I wasn't referring though (re the question I asked you earlier) to people who don't believe the Holy Ghost baptism to be real or necessary. What they say is really inconsequential to the point I was making. I was referring to people like myself who have experienced the power of the Holy Ghost and who believe that every believer should have this gift of anointing and power.
Why would someone like myself be resistant to the PAJC view of salvation re the Holy Ghost and tongues if it was clearly taught in scripture? We wouldn't -- there would be no reason to -- and I can assure you that ever since I was a young teen I've searched the scripture and I've talked to many and listened to the best preachers and teachers and discussed this issue with those who are well able to explain their POV but have never been satisfied with their arguments or answers. I simply can't find this "tongues or hell" doctrine in scripture. And salvation doctrine, as it's defined by PAJCers, doesn't line up to what happens to the majority of believers when they by faith become believers and repent of their sin. They experience spiritual transformation that changes them inside and out and results in yielding themselves to the control of the Holy Spirit.
I know there are questions about my understanding of salvation doctrine but there are certainly questions regarding the PAJC point of view too. In my opinion, practical experience and Scripture provides a stronger validation of what I believe in regard to the need of the baptism of the Spirit than it does the *3 step* view.
Gotta run for now. More comments later.
