In a nutshell... While I would baptize anyone in the name of Jesus by immersion, I don't believe that what is said over a person is salvational. I believe speaking in tongues is simply one of many gifts a believer may or may not receive and is not an "initial evidence" of receiving the Spirit, nor is it "initial evidence" of some alleged second baptism of the Spirit as non-Apostolic Pentecostal churches teach, nor should it ever be used as a measuring stick of someone's spirituality.

There's a little more detail on the spiritual abuse web site on the background/beliefs page.

I don't hide what I believe and want to add I have never come on these boards to try and argue these main issues as I did not feel it would have been right to do so. So, I won't get into this area further on AFF. My activity has been pretty much limited to standards issues and spiritual abuse type threads on FCF and AFF. I never joined NFCF.

I wish all of you well. Thanks for the opportunity to share.

Sister, did you come to these understandings by studying out the scriptures or did you study the scriptures with the help of books that were written by Trinitarians, and Ex-One God people?

I appreciate your time and effort to be here with us and have this discussion.

No, studying these issues with the help of books isn't always helpful. I tried similar to that way back when I looked into the women's hair teachings. I found that to be frustrating as I'd read UPC lit and would feel they made points and then read other lit and they made points. It wasn't until I pushed that all away and studied the Bible itself (with the help of a concordance and Vine's) that I came to the conclusion that the Bible did not teach what the UPC taught on that issue. And I didn't go into it with trying to prove it wrong, either- I wanted to know the truth of the matter. It was the same with the other issues.

So as to tongues and water baptism, no, I did not use these type books in coming to my conclusions.

Sister, are you still in study and willing to learn more? Also if you were to discover that you had been incorrect in what you had found, would you be willing to make the proper changes?

Again I thank you for your time.

You know, Elder Epley, it is attitudes like some of your posts such as the above that will keep many people from ever even desiring to return. It boggles my mind how I have heard several reports of how you are in person (all of them good) and yet on these boards you have falsely accused me of things and seem to even enjoy posting bits that hint of my alleged eternal damnation.

I have never caused any problems for this board or FCF. I have never treated you on these boards disrespectfully.

You ought to be ashamed, but it is obvious you are not. If this is how you reach out to those you feel are lost, heaven help them all. You hurt your testimony with posts such as these.

My answer to both is "absolutely." I yet study and hopefully will never want to come to a place where I stop or think I know it all.

I will stand up and say "AMEN" to this preaching here. It's like aiming an arrow at a target and hitting the bullseye!
