What is so funny is that my son has that very song playing on his cell phone while you wait for him to answer and I had, the day before, told him, "CHANGE THAT SONG!"

What one song - regardless of how good it 'once was' - has been dragged through one too many services and should be forever retired in your opinion?

(BTW: While we have 'kicking' music in our Church and I, myself, play several instruments I have to admit that I'm NOT a 'Hillsong' type music fan.)

"I Am A Friend Of God" needs to be buried.

Next?

LOL! we did that song this past Sunday!

We had a song leader many years ago who loved the old hymn O I Want to See Him. So we sang it every single service - Sunday morning, Sunday night, Wednesday night Bible Study and Friday night youth Service - for over a year solid!!! Seriously!!

For a long, long time, I could not stomach that song. Now (20 years later) when we sing it occasionally (thank the Lord it's ONLY occasionally) I never think about the Lord. My mind immediately drifts off to the person who loved that song so much he made us sing it to death.

This isnt a song, but if I hear somone say :"vertical worship" again, it will be too soon.

dont get me wrong, i love songs that are purely worship as opposed to singing ABOUT worship, but come on, I am just tired of hearing "that wasnt vertical worship"

anyone remember singing "Bind us together" about a billion times?

We had the funniest thing happen when we were at our old church.. The pastor had just told me he had come to despise the song Amazing Grace because the church he pastored before ours... thats the only song they think the lady who played piano knew.. so then we sang it but very very rarely.. so we hire this girl fresh out of JCM... she comes to our church... (now mind you we had just had this conversation about the song and where this angst for it came from 1 week before she came) her first service.. she plays and sings Amazing Grace during offering! Oh but thats not good enough.. altar call too!! Oh the look on his face... so at Fridays that night we had to break it to her and she was so embarrassed so if that wasnt good enough.. the next service we had a newer lady sing a solo... she gets up and belts out another version of..... Amazing Grace!!! It was the most hysterical thing... he was so funny to. He would just look at me and hubby... finally asked.. did yall have anything to do with this?!?! LOL Nope!

I'm glad to hear you ladies voice an opinion of this song. When others were shouting to it I thought maybe something was wrong with me that I thought the words were inappropriate. I could never sing those words!

I'm not sure where the song "Can't nobody" originated.. it sounded black gospel to me.... does anyone know?

I love the premise of the song... but you're right... in todays world with today's lingo that song might confuse someone greatly!

I change the wording to almost any song that has the name, Jehovah, in it for God because Jesus is the name above all names of God. I use to think a Jehovah's witness would be comfortable singing this song!

In the Presence of Jehovah, God Almighty, Prince of Peace....trouble vanish, hearts are mended in the presence of the King.

So you change the Jehovah to Jesus on that song?

I always liked that song... probably because I've proved it true in my own life.
