Actually, our church shouts their hair down to the newer stuff. I bet if you took a poll of the under 30 crowd who were born and raised in our church (not counting the ones who've moved in from other churches) only a couple of them would know "Camping in Canaan's Happy Land" Which I think is sad in a way... but all things but God change over time. Those old songs mean so much to our elders (and even to me and I'm no where near Monkeyman's age ) Some of the newer ones will be remembered by the generation of today, should the Lord tarry, long after they are considered "old" by our children!

We were having our old song leader lead a portion of the service a while back and he actually sang this song! I almost died, all I could think of is what the visitors were thinking! That is one song that I think would very hard for a visitor to understand the concept of. Us old-timers get it, but seriously, "Canaans Happy Land"? Doesn't that sound like the name of a weird theme park to you?? LOL!!

Didn't Melodies of Praise have the crosses.. I'll have to dig mine out.

Before "Sing Unto the Lord" we had "Pentecostal Praises." Years before that we had one that was thinner and was dark green, but I can't remember the name. I have them all in my church office though.

I just found it. I can't seem to find Sing Unto the Lord though... and this annoys me!

I believe you were referring to "Let Me Tell You Who Jesus Is" as a song you hadn't heard. It was a well worn song a few years ago.

I did a "Google" search and found this on Good New Cafe forum...I believe in one God but I'd feel a little strange if I brought one of my "trinity" friends with me to church and this was one of the worship songs.
