Randy, again i ask, what's the point of accountability when it has to do with molestation ???

You might want to review the law. My pastor had a huge case he was involved with and learned alot about it. A minister does not have to report a penitant regardless of the confession but he is required to report a victim who accuses someone of abuse.

I think that when that if someone told me they had these issues but had not acted upon them...I would certainly recommend the Mental Health Profession Immediately and inform the authority concerning children...the risk is too great not to...

StMark, once it gets that far, I think its probably too far gone. But in the case I mentioned earlier...perhaps an addiction to porn led to deeper and darker desires that could have been eradicated or avoided if he had received help earlier on? I don't know...I'm just surmising.
If one of my friends confessed to some dark inclination, I would not immediately disassociate from them. I would pray for them and with them and encourage them to get professional help. Now, would I let them babysit my children? No. And if they are being honest, that should be understandable. Additionally, if I noticed they were hanging around children or participating in situations potentially dangerous to children, then I would probably turn them in. (If a strong suggestion to the contrary was ignored.)

If someone confessed to me they were tempted to molest children, I would immediately refer them to seek help from a pysch. I would not have any further discussions with them. As much a risk as they pose, the authority/law cannot take any action on a persons temptation. Unless an act is committed, there is nothing they can do.

Correct. A person cannot be imprisoned for inclinations or even fantasies.

You are right to first pray for them. Of course, it would be foolish to leave your child in their care knowing they have a temptation. But if I saw them hanging around children, I could not call the cops based on my suspicion. I would first confront the person and ask them why they are around the children when they have this temptation. I would try to make them accountable for their actions.

My question would be... why wouldn't you want to? I wouldn't hesitate to report someone harming a child. As a parent I would want someone to tell me. My Lord I feel sick at the thought someone would hide it!!!!!!!!!!
