Re: PLEASE Let's Stay Right on Topic on this one

So, PressingOn, are you saying power is given to her husband by having uncut hair? Is power held back from a husband who's wife cuts her hair?

But then again, it says, SHE ought to HAVE (I'm thinking posses, therefore it is her possession) power ON HER (maybe we need to look if it's her or her husand) head.

If a woman is a widow is she headless?

GOD BLESS!
Bro. Alex

Sorry, I missed this. I think she should obey the authority she is under. She should go to her husband and he in turn to the pastor, if need be. Let them work it out for themselves.

Is the pastor the man's head or is the man's head Christ?

GOD BLESS!

I agree that this teaching has attempted to take power away from the head of the home, and place that authority with the woman. It's a bit of an Apostolic Women's Lib Movement, if you ask me.

I think that I stand with every other theologian in the world who say, "This is a difficult passage!"

I will put out the definition, but every person needs to seek the authority they are under. My husband wants me to have long hair.

It might add to the conversation to understand that the same word interpreted head in the phrase "power on her head" is also the same word interpreted head in

Quote:
1Cr 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman [is] the man; and the head of Christ [is] God

What does hair have to do with the angels?

Angels are male. Males because they're male ... like long hair on women ... are attracted to us and camp around us with divine protection because of that.

There ya go.

"Power On" In Greek: "Exousia Epi"

Can anyone tell me what they think this means? This does have to do with hair and the debate over headcovering/veiling, but I don't want to get sidetracked on that. Let's just take this verse and see what exousia epi has to tell us.

Could this power on be synonomous with power over, therefore giving HER the decision, authority and power over her hair, whether it is cut or not or what condition she chooses keeps it in?

GOD BLESS!
Bro. Alex
A woman's long hair is a sign she is under athority (power) of men.Men is her head, her athority and her long hair is a sign she excepts it.A woman is given athority when she is under the athority of men.Angels are the pastors.
