Wow.
I am just Happy my kids want to live for God.

They were baptized in Jesus name last night.

Two summers ago my Daughter received the the Holy Ghost at the UPC youth camp here in Amarillo, when me and a loving UPC pastors wife prayed for her.

My daughter is Born again of the water and Spirit.

I will probably take them back because they like the camp meetings.

I would teach that the a UPC Pastors doctrine was wrong too.

Come on now!

Re: I Baptized my Kid in Jesus name last night!

The problem some keep getting into is one of separating properly. Trinitarians are NOT Christians. A Christian will follow the teachings of Christ and the apostles. Now a lot of people don't like to hear that Apostolics are the only Christians, and I find it unfortunate that we have to call ourselves Apostolics and not simply Christians because of all the heresies and denominations that are around today that make the term "Christian" almost mean nothing to the outsider. Trinitarians are Trinitarians, Apostolics are Christians and the Church is ONLY made up of Christians. I would rather study at home than go to a Trinitarian "church" (and I use " 's because they are not the Church). Is a baptism there null and void? Well, I wouldn't go to the Hindu holy site of the River Ganges, during one of their festivals and baptize my child in JESUS' name. I mean, what fellowship does light have with darkness? Why can't people just see this clearly. We're not the same as Trinitarians, we shouldn't go to their churches and be members or "fellowship" with them, they are NOT the church.
And as for not wanting to go to a legalistic Apostolic church, I go to an indep church where a lot of the legalistic tendencies have been weeded out and whatnot, but when it comes to Acts 2:38 we don't compromise, I am sure you could find a church like this somewhere...

GOD BLESS!
Bro. Alex

At Amarillo Fellowship they are a break off of Assemblies of God.

They teach Holy ghost, Speaking tongues, the Gifts of the Spirit, praise and worship.
They teach Jesus and him crucified.

God is with them, they live for Jesus. You can not separate them from the love of God.

They are Christ like and Christian.

Apostolics have some truth Acts2:38 and one God. But they are wrong holiness standards and doctrines of man traditions.

Also the attitude of superiority and gaw to call others not Christian is stinky.

Peer pressure is a powerful thing.

And daddy attending that church, and showing them its okay to attend a trinny church, tells them all they need to know.

And that is that basic doctrines, such as the Godhead, are not important.

They are being shown that there can be two divergent - yet equally true - views.

You just struck the chords that I've been thinking of since this started...I knew it would end up here.

My two points I would have LIKED to have stated, but didn't want to ruin this thread, but it's ruined now anyway, so oh well...was that 1.) peer pressure IS a very powerful thing. And 2.) disagreeing with your pastor.

I just couldn't bring myself to take my daughter to a standards teaching church while not holding to and agreeing with the standards. Why would I take her someplace that is self-defeating in its purpose? Take her to church to be saved, only to have her realize she's not REALLY saved because she doesn't conform to the standards like all the other little girls. The peer pressure on her at that particular age would have been something that would form who she is for the rest of her life.

It's really a no-win situation. You're going to disagree with both, so I would do exactly what Coop is doing. Choose the lesser of two weevils. Look normal on the outside, and KNOW your God on the inside. Only the standards-keeping pastor would know you were disagreeing with him. (Which translates into disobeying your pastor, which translates into rebel, which translates into...well, you get the picture.)

I was baptized in the F, S and HG AND in JESUS' name in the AG church, and I ended still getting rebaptized in the UPC church because I wanted to go by the book and have the knowledge of JESUS name baptism.
Anyways, just because they act "like" Christ doesn't make them Christians. I know Hindu's and Buddists that are nicer than some AGers I know and that doesn't make them Christians. There are doctrinal beliefs that one must adhere to to be a Christian. I don't just get to decide I'm a Christian and who is and who isn't. I made the conscious decision to become a Christian (my parents are not Christians), and when I did this I accepted such doctrines as the Oneness of GOD and JESUS name baptism, those who do not accept those and various other doctrines are not Christians.
I'm not about to say people are lost because of standards, and I'm not about to say "No bobbed heads in the Bride" or anything like that, BUT when it comes to doctrine, you can't be compromising.
Can I be a Christian but also believe Joseph Smith heard from GOD and the Book of Mormon is true? Can I be a Christian and also believe JESUS wasn't actually GOD but a demi-GOD? Can I be a Christian and believe the Koran? Can I be a Christian and believe in 3 gods? Where do we draw the line? None of the examples I mentioned above are Christians, they have either added on or removed a fundamental part of the Christian faith. You, Cooper are not at a Church that is Christ's, you're at a church of men, and it's going to be judged as such on Judgement Day. Christ doesn't know that church, and if you know Truth you should have no fellowship with them. RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!

GOD BLESS!
Bro. Alex

Coop you should have taken your kid to one of the big Mormon temples. They'll baptize you in Jesus name and they have really cool baptistries too.
