Re: Sickness because of sin.

Many get sick and die because they eat and drink unworthily.Because they eat and drink with sin in their life.The Lord chastens (whips) us with sickness when we sin.

1 Cor.11: 27: Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28: But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29: For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
30: For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
31: For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
32: But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
33: Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.
34: And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come

Re: Sickness because of sin.

Pay close attention to verse 29 which you quoted. "eateth and drinketh damnation to himself" is far different than the Lord whipping someone with sickness. Furthermore, pay attention to the word "when" in verse 32.

It would be an interesting theology to see how Jesus, fulfilling the prophesies of Isaiah (53:4-5), came took our sickness so that we don't have them and then uses them to whip His children. Not only would that be contrary to MANY scriptures, but also to the character of God.

I don't get the when part.

1 cor.11:30: For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

Rom 5:12
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (KJV)

Rom 5:12
12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned--(NAS)

[23] Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.

Re: Sickness because of sin.

There is a book out called "under the influence." It is a good book on the historical and biblical aspects of the usage of the word wine throughout the Bible. It was written by a Canadian pastor, but I can't remember his name. I have the book in my office.

You should get it and do some study because wine is a mocker...

THE best book I've seen on the subject is "God Gave Wine" by Kenneth Gentry. Not too long and very biblical.

James 5:13: Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

16: Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much
Sorry this is not sound doctrine.

Can someone bring sickness of themselves because of depression and worry?

Yes.

Is all sickness related to a sin or action. No...

Re: Sickness because of sin.

Think i'll stick with the bible and not mans books.

Math.14:22: And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.
23: And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.
24: And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.
25: Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

Wine and strong drink, like whisky

Prov.20:1: Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

Luke 7:
[33] For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil. [34] The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!
Jesus drank wine.

John.2
[1] And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
[2] And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
[3] And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
[4] Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
[5] His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
[6] And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
[7] Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
[8] And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
[9] When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew the governor of the feast called the bridegroom

Isa.28:7: But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

NOTE> excess (More the necessary)

Eph.5:17: Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
18: And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

1 Tim.3: 1: This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
2: A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
3: Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
4: One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
5: (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
6: Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
7: Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
8: Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;

1 Tim.5:23: Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities. (sickness)

Titus2:3: The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things
