I too don't understand what has happened. I had to bail out for a couple of weeks as I was going to school and work for some uptraining and then came back to find that "all the 'conservatives' are gone!"
I hope it has nothing to do with the encounter that I had with one of the Forum's "conservative" voices a little while back. He had made a rather serious accusation against another preacher and couched the whole thing with a bunch of ambiguity. I had never really dialoged with the guy before and I didn't know that he was supposed to be allowed to post anything he wanted without it being challenged; so I called him on it.
After embarassing himself with several posts attacking me personally and trying to bait me with what I thought was childish name calling - the guy banned himself! And it turns out that his accusation against that other preacher was false. They were just two guys who differed on their methods of church discipline and restoration. There was no drunken licentousness at his neighboring UPC church as he had tried to make it appear.
I noticed that all of the people who defended this poster have also left. Are people embarassed because they can't spin their good 'ol boy yarns with impunity? Shouldn't they instead be embarrassed by their own behavior?
Has my friend BOOMM now become embarrassed because these guys have left? BOOMMerino, you're bigger than all those other guys put together!
Really, if there's some sort of rule that "owners" can say whatever they want and you are only allowed to say "yowsa!" in response, then that rule needs to be published somewhere. We should not have to guess.
And if you want to be the "owner" of an open forum, you really need to be careful with your "facts" or grow a thicker skin.
Challenging an indecent and disrespectful accusation is not an act of disrespect; it is an act of decency and respect.
