As a food manager and having worked at MCD's, I must respectfully disagree. There are so many preservatives in their food that to eat them is to prepare one's own body for burial.
Also, the food has been cooked so many times by the time it is consumed by the patron that the actual food value is questionable at best. In this instance, the item consumed will indeed be stored as fat since it cannot be properly digested.
Little is said about preservatives by the establishment, but they are generally toxic in the body. The body when trying to eliminate toxins will if unable to do so create fat storage for the purpose of taking them out of the blood. When grossly overweight people begin to diet, they often experience flu like symptoms. This is a direct result of those toxins that have been stored in fatty pockets being released and the body's attempt to remove them.
Many of the preservatives that we consume are derived from petroleum. Yes, the same thing that we get gasoline and motor oil from. Many medicines are also drawn from it.
I recently heard that some research was done and the average American (due to diet choices) consumes a gallon of motor oil per year in food, medicines, styrofoam products, plastics, etc. Motor oil is toxic as the day is long.
If you want to be healthier, stop eating fast food. Or at least limit it to a treat instead of a way of life. Cook at home. At least then you know what is in your food, how clean the environment in which it was prepared was, how healthy it can be potentially, and how fattening it will be.
