So was your father a Corpman stationed at the Naval Hospital @ Camp Lester? I was stationed in Okinawa for 1.5 years, 1996-1997.

But it's beautiful. I love the waterfall that's there. They've built it up as a little park now, although I haven't been there for about 10 years. The water is delicious too, and so cold!!
I'll never forget that drive though. When I was a kid (my mom drove from IL to VA twice a year), I would purposely go to sleep around Ashland, KY because I knew what was coming!! I remember crying telling my mom to slow down around those curves! LOL!But while I love that 64 goes through, I miss the little shops along the way that have probably closed up by now. We used to stop at the Alpine Glass Factory, there were a couple Indian shops, and the Mystery House....haha.
Oh, the memories.

In fact we will be going that way again in May.
The Mystery house has the VW Bug in the side of it right?
