Is that in the Old or New Testament?

Now that you asked I'll have to check.

Then Volleyball and washers in the evening. Of course, evening services are cancelled since all will be too tired.
Well, I dont get all excited about these 'religious' holidays, as they are called for that particular reason...because they are 'religious.'

I HATE religion. I say why relegate 'intense feelings of spirituality' or seeking after God to two or three days of the year?

My grandma used to say, "why I gotta wait for one day of the year to buy my grandkids gifts, or candy, or cook a big fancy meal? I can do that all year round..."

Folks dont get riled up about Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving because these holidays have been around forever and we do the same thing. Christendom has exhausted all means of innovative outreach for these holidays. Folks are resting from working so hard the other 362 days of the year that these days mean little to them anymore...

I believe we are living in a day where the church has to not deem one day over the other. Holidays can be and will be capitalized on in this country. So their influence for the gospel is diminished.

If the church is really serious about souls, they will use EVERY day, every hour, every minute and second, as an opportunity to minister to who God sends to us.

These holidays have lost their novelty. Now its time to be sensitive to the leading of God on how to bring them in...

Seeking God should be 24/7, 365...if that is done, then souls will come in and God gets the glory...

Truthfully ... we need to BE CAREFUL that our Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day, etc. services are not so AGENDA-DRIVEN that there is no time set aside for God to move in them.

Re: It really makes a person wonder...

It is unfortunate. Although undoubtedly, we could argue that Easter should be no different than any other weekend. The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ is one that should continually be celebrated in the hearts of believers.

On the other hand, it should be also noted that Easter (or Mother's or Father's Day) gives us an opportunity to reach those who might not find themselves in a church pew had it not been for them feeling of obligation to be there. We have an obligation to reach to the lost at anytime. This is just another avenue of outreach that we must pursue.

Of course, perhaps, we should be thankful that this is not controversial either...lol

Absolutely Fiyahstarter! It is supposed to be all about Him and not about us. There are times I think the 'church' as a whole has become narcissistic. I love that worship song..."I'm coming back to the heart of worship...it's all about you, all about you Jesus. I'm sorry Lord for the things I've made it, when it's all about you, all about you Jesus."

I'm sorry for making it about me. I'm sorry for making it something more complicated that it should be.
