In the Bible God fought Israel's battles. It wasn't until she began to grow carnal that she was left to face her enemies. When she called for a king...God slowly began allowing her more and more responsiblity for her own defence. Repeatedly we see her victories short lived and her captivities forced upon her until the Romans finished Biblical Israel off in AD 70.
But the Church isn't of this world. Let the world fight it's own wars....we belong to another Heavenly city.

Sister, if God was in favor of the war in Iraq then He's in it to the finish. God is not a wishy washy God who changes His mind midstream like us humans do. I was in favor of the Iraq war, at first because of the belief that Saddam had WMDs, then because we were already there and needed to stay long enough for them to establish a new government. Well, we've been there long enough for them to do that and it's time for them to stand or fall on their own, in my opinion.
Ric, I am not saying God is wishy washy at all. I am saying God wanted us out a while ago. His Hand lifted a minute ago, and here we go trying to make a whole bunch of mini Americas....
God didn't tell us to do that. That is man made garbage that is costing American lives every day...
I hope Bush is praying about all this...

In context what does 'world' mean? Scripture uses it in several different ways.

I am going to explain this to you just once. The Bible teaches we reap what we sow. The US has a history of meeting deadly force with overwhelming deadly force. JW used our bombing of Japan during WWII as an example, in his opinion, of the US going overboard in killing innocent people to win a war at all costs. Add the other things mentioned in JW's sermon and it isn't hard to see where he got the notion that 9/11 was the start of us reaping what we've sown all over the world. Hence, God is judging America, etc. etc. CH gets the connection JW is making in this sermon and is trying to get the people on this board to see that connection as well. I hope I have summed it all up for you.
guess we would be speaking japanese or german if or govt followed your logic

For a war to be "biblical" it has to be decreed by God through a prophet. Those fighting are to be the righteous...not the ungodly. Victory comes supernaturally, not through human might.
If God ordered us into Iraq to defend us and the world from WMD's...God would have delivered. We would have the WMDs. This wasn't God's idea unless it was a judgment by allowing our "king" to make our children run before his chariots, delivering unto us the war our carnality craves.

World as in this "world". If we were of this world...then we would fight. But we are not...therefore we do not. If you do...are you of us?
