*sigh*
You know, it's the little things and small traditions that help make us who we are as a country. Everything from the "dumb" national anthem to the picture of Lincoln on the penny to American flags waving in neighborhood yards to the thousands of fans who take their hats off at baseball games when the "dumb" song is sang.
I think these things are worth hanging on to. It doesn't have anything at all to do with whether or not you like the lyrics or whether or not the melody inspires you.
And you shouldn't be saluting the flag based on where it's sewn; it's a matter of what it represents.
