Why would He have to worship anyone? Does dance have to be "worship?" Why can't it just be dancing for joy?

Do you think God takes joy in His creation?

As a man/human He would worship YHWH the Father.
Just as He prayed as a man of flesh (ref Psalm 65:2) to YHWH his Abba.

As a man, Jesus prayed.
As God, He answers our prayers (ref John 14:14-14)

So, do I believe He danced?! Sure do...!!
Well, pardon me for nitpicking here but...

First of all I do believe Jesus danced. It was normative in his culture to do so.

But I wouldn't use that Luke 10:21 scripture to support my belief. I don't know where that preacher got the meanings "leaped" and "jumped" from in this instance, but it certainly wasn't the from the text in question . The word used in the Greek (egalliasato, from the root agalliao) , means to exult or to rejoice exceedingly. But Agalliao does not mean to leap, or to jump.

I think it's probably a bit of a stretch to conclude from the original text that Jesus was dancing in Luke 21 (although of course we don't know for sure that he didnt).

That is right up there with:
Did He ever laugh at a joke?
Did He ever tell a joke?
Did He ever play tag or hide and seek with other kids? Or his parents?
Did He ever belly laugh as a baby or toddler when his mother went "PEEK.... a boo!"?
Did He drink any of the wine that He made at the wedding?
In my mind, I imagine Jesus and His followers probably had some fun among themselves, probably some jokes, pranks, etc. like lots of guys hanging out together. I'm sure Jesus had a sense of humor. i don't think He was dour and crabby and went about with a scowl on His face. He seemed approachable to those with needs and it seems that children liked Him.

As a child I'm sure He laughed and played just like the other kids.
There is something precious (maybe because I'm old and a grandparent now) about a child's smile and a child's laugh. I love to see children playing happily and just enjoying life.

Joelel, I am a oneness believer and I believe Jesus was both God and man...However I am not a Bible teacher so I will leave that part to those that are. However I believe he danced as man...as flesh..The same way he ate, he drank, he suffered...

Jesus was our example...that was why he was baptized and why he prayed...he was a fleshly man...the Word became flesh and dwelt among us...
Thank You Sister,I see you as a wonderful person.I don't call it blunt,I call it bold and I really don't like argueing with people as I do many times but I know there are people who read what I say and believe.

I don't know if he did ever dance or leap for joy so I just thought I would ask that question to see what people say.May Jesus lead you all the days of your life.

Re: Did Jesus dance ?

Jesus attended the feasts...the feasts were happy occasions, studing Jewish history they danced at weddings, victories after winning wars and on and on. I really believe Jesus danced in his culture...I love Jewish festival dances.
I have studied for many years the Hebrew people...
Of course in most oneness circles if you say dance you are branded some far out ballet dancer...lol...
In my studies somewhere I did read that it was the Catholic church that stopped dancing...somewhere else I read that many of the first churches that were built they had a hall for dancing their dance celebrations...

I do think it is interesting however some people shy away from these things...

Of course I believe in the 1000 year earthly reign and that we will celebrate the feast of the tabernacles...so I am a real oddball...ha...(not a doctrine of our church just a personal belief)

Re: Did Jesus dance ?

Jesus was at the jewish festivals so it is safe to say he danced...his first miracle was at a wedding and we know they danced at weddings...
Like it or not Jesus was a part of a culture that danced...

Heaven forbid, Sis. Alvear, to imply that Jesus might have danced could shock some Baptists, Pentecostals, and Holiness folks who have an issue with dancing.

However, I agree with you. I can picture Jesus dancing on occasion. I can't picture Him as a "sour puss" and "kill joy."

P.S. I saw a sign in the bathroom of a house where some Apostolics lived. It said, "Singing in the shower is allowed but dancing is frowned upon."

Re: Did Jesus dance ?

Oh yes ma'am......I believe with all my heart that Jesus danced and laughed and had good times with those he loved.....I can imagine him with children....being happy and joyful and playful with them.
