Re: Has The UPCI Served It's Purpose.

Once again it becomes clear to me that there are quite a few ex-UPC'ers who have residual bitterness and resentments toward the organization.

I sincerely hope they get their issues resolved; meanwhile, their thinly veiled ill-will toward the organization is unfortunate, to say the least.

Meanwhile, I am confident that the organization, despite its flaws and shortcomings, will continue to be greatly used by God to help reap the end-time harvest, until Jesus comes.

Amen. My experience in United Pentecostal Churches has been positive overall. The good far outweighs the bad. And while we are and continue to evolve - God is using the organization to further the gospel inspite of imperfections.

I would agree that my experiences have not been that bad in direction to me personally. I have seen many, many bad things. For me the bad did outweigh the good. As you might know I am back in the UPC for family reasons.

TR, I would not go as far to say that there is ill-will from some of us to the UPC. There is always two sides to the story, remember. If someone in the UPC or the UPC itself has hurt someone the hurt is valid. I think that some of what is said on here against the UPC is not so much from bitterness, but maybe from disappointment. Think about it. Most of us, I would venture to say, were raised in or around the UPC. At some point in our life the UPC was made to look like the only way to heaven. Once we are old enough to find and search and see things for ourselves and see the UPC is not the only way. I can not speak for others, but it disappoints me cause I honestly wanted to believe the UPC was the only true church, but as I got old and searched the Bible for myself I see things different. So at least for me it mostly from disappointment that I speak. I am very, very glad for the UPC and ALJC have done for me, but I can not sit back and act like they are they only church.

Pelathais, who is "the church" you have in quotes? The RCC?
No, see http://apostolicfriendsforum.com/sho...437#post433437

As to UPC being the only way to heaven... thats laughable, regardless of one's current affiliation or theology. Surely noone here believes that.

I read the two posts that you referenced earlier by TRFrance and SH. Although I didn't have time to log in and respond, I was thinking - "I believe it's more disappointment".

I was astonished when I came back and you posted the exact same thing. I'm glad you did, I view it in the same way. That doesn't discount some that I have met that are bitter but I believe on average it would be disappointment.

I have never believed that, even as a new convert, but I was very careful in not expressing that to anyone.
