I don't know where PO is. But I'd love to meet her after I'm at least somewhat closer than where I am now.

It is doubtful for us.

We bought a house in Arkansas so we make a 3 hour drive most weekends to the house to get it ready for the move.

Re: Will You Take A Vacation This Year?

We were thinking about going with a group from our church in September to Pigeon Forge. I'm not sure yet if that's going to work out. We'll have to make a commitment by July if we are going so we still have a little time yet to decide.

Re: Will You Take A Vacation This Year?

Well, I think my life is a vacation! lol!!! With a husband that travels sometimes for work, and the rest of us tag along and spend the week checking out the new city, it is a vacation...... What makes it nice is that the company usually pays for gasoline and hotels....Otherwise, we don't go..!!! We were blessed to go to Kansas last week... It was a vacation for my husband and I. A vacation is what you do when you need to "get away" and "rest" and enjoy new sites... Kansas was prettier than I thought and they had 2 Hobby Lobby stores! WoOHOo! We found rest and strength for our weary souls so I can't complain! ( even if it was in Kansas )

Re: Will You Take A Vacation This Year?

Usually we take a nice vaction somewhere of our chosing, then my wife and kids go to Ohio for a couple of weeks to visit the grandparents. Last year we spent a week at Hilton Head. The year before we went to Southern California. We really like Longboat Key, FL near Bradenton. We've vacationed there about half a dozen times.

However, Mary and I have decided to become debt free in three years. So we have chosen to visit the grandparents in Ohio for a couple of weeks in July. We will spend a week on Lake Erie, go to Cedar Point with the kids and just enjoy the sun and my in-laws residence on the lake at Lakeside, OH. Then we will spend a week in our hometown of Newark, OH. Not as exciting and exotic as some of the places we've been, but in three years we are going on a cruise.

Re: Will You Take A Vacation This Year?

DeaconBlues,

my father-in-law lived on Longboat Key and AnnaMaria Island for about 10-15 years when we were first married. We loved to vacation down there! We did find that it was best to go when it was NOT tourist season tho. Otherwise going from one end of the island to the other could take hours. In the off season we could do it in less than 10 minutes!

We're going to spend our vacation time and money this year getting Justin ready for his first year of college. I think he's settled on Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, so we'll have to make the trip down for orientation in July, then to get him settled into the dorm in August. If we let him take his own car down, he could drive himself home for Thanksgiving and Christmas. But even if we do that, it will be our money paying for gas, so that about wipes out our vacation funds.
