I talked about my friend that he addressed. I can't tell you how I walked with her, believed in her, lost hope in her, wanted to help her and in one service He stopped everything and told her exactly what was going on and that God wanted to loose her from the condemnation that had plagued her for years.

How could he know that? When he started talking to her the Spirit of the Lord was on me and I walked across the church to her. Brother Poe took my hand and laid it on her head and told me to pray for her. She was delivered. She's worshiping with me in church right now. It was the most powerful experience I have had in a long time.

I never thought I would see her be an overcomer. It was an amazing service. I like Brother Poe.

I think it is the tolerance of some of this that encourages it. In some circles this is elevated and put on a pedestal as "shucking the corn", "preaching it straight".
CC1, I consider you a friend but you're a million miles off base on this one. I stand in 'defense' only because I do believe in him. I'm not one of those who thinks that all preaching has to be 'cut and bang'... but some of it surely is brash. One of my most revered figures in the ministry is C. M. Becton and there isn't a more gentle man alive. I'm a great student of all kinds of preaching and, hence, have NEVER said someone that wasn't being crude was insincere.

Your assumption was misguided as the 'insincere' I was referring to was those who are crude and in your face for no other reason than rile a crowd into a frenzy. What Bro. Poe is he has always been. Yet, I have no time for those who preach one thing and live another. THAT is what I was speaking of being insincere... would you not agree?

No, friend, his is not the only kind of preaching. But, the proof is in the pudding that it's surely one of many effective kinds of preaching.

I almost came out of my seat with 10 other guys ready to pounce on the guy if he took it further...Good thing, little, frail, Brother H didn't realize what he even said.

...a man of God does not intimidate an elderly preacher sitting on the platform just to get his kicks.

What was over the top about it? Ironically we are talking about truthfulness, honesty, posturing, yet someone gives an honest opinion and HE is over the top?

Hmmm...

To be honest I have never heard Poe preach only what I have heard. But this I know to be a fact.

He came to CLC and had a question and answer session, and when asked about what he thought about women involved in ministry, his answer was very offensive. (most likely why our friend W. Price likes him)

He stated that he thought women were only good for being pregnant and making peanut brittle.

Very poor in taste and ill willed!

Now Steadfast I am all for diverse and individuality in the Body, but that was the most ignorant and bombastic answer to a really good question. It hovered slightly above bigotry.

You cry for be true to self and honesty, but lets not simply tolerates jack... for the sake that is what a jack.... does. Note this is for example sake, and I am not calling Poe a jack... just emphasing how strongly I feel about stupid, ignorant statements said by the authority of God, no matter how honest it is.
