I should probably read everyone else's comments so I don't repeat anything... oh well.
Ecclesiastes 9:11
I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
Matthew 5:45
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Psalm 75:7
But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Just some thoughts. I don't believe in luck. I do believe in chance and coincidence occasionally, but I believe that the Child of God's life has been turned over to Him and He is at the helm, working it all together.
I read through the rest of the posts after, I think we're all aiming in the same direction. We all bear some responsibility for our lives, like the old saying says... "Do your best and let God do the rest"

Psalm 19:14
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
The tradition of Chimney Sweeps kissing the bride for good luck started about 200 years ago after a London Chimney Sweeper saved the life of King George III. The sweep had been the only person brave enough to stop the King's out of control horses and carriage.
By Royal Decree the King proclaimed that all sweeps are good luck bearers and should be treated with respect. The folk law was established and to this day Chimney Sweepers are still invited to attend weddings (in England) and kiss the bride for good luck.

So, what are you saying, that you became a chimney sweeper so you could smooch with a bunch of different women???????

So, how many brides (other than your own wife) have you kissed?

There are some people I have counseled with in the past who have a 'victim mentality' and I gave them cognitive behavioral therapy to change the way they look at the situations in their life, giving them a different feeling/attitude, which changes or gives them more positive behaviors.
But if you are a people watcher...you can truly see that some people really do have bad luck. What do you attribute this to? You can only partially blame the person involved...something else is surely going on, but for the life of me I have no answer to this dilemna.

They can't see the good in life and they will only see what is wrong....their actions and their expectations will be along the same lines....
Just like those who see the good in life... They will find joy in hard times and they will make it thru... Their actions will also follow their outlook on life. They may mess up, but they will see it as a learning experience and they will make the best of it... It's not because they have good luck...

But good luck and bad luck?! As LC said earlier, it sounds like superstition to me.
Good posts!!! I agree!
Attitude has a lot to do with "luck."

Luke 13:1-5
"1There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."
I think Jesus was saying these folks were unlucky. If you are under the tower and it falls, t is not your lucky day.
