Eddy Arnold Dead at 89

Eddy Arnold died today. Bummer. I like his style of singing. Him and Ray Price are among my favorite old time singers.

Yes, it's sad Rico. Those of yesteryear who really knew how to sing are passing on. Just to think what they are leaving us with today is actually scarey. Hank Williams was another old timer who wrote some beautiful gospel songs and I understand that he came from a pentecostal background.

Eddy Arnold really did some classic country songs, such as anytime,if I could hold you in my arms, then he went uptown with strings and such but the man could really sing.
One really country number he did was The Tennesee Stud written by Jimmie Dritfwood.

Hey, he had a good run, for awhile there his contemporaries were dropping like flies....Hank Williams, Jim Reeves, Johnny Horton, Patsy Cline......

The sweet/sad part of the story is that his wife of almost 66 years died in March. I love to hear stories like that, where it seems the connection is so strong.

That is so sweet! And also kind of scary to me, my only living grandparents are both failing in their health right now, and I can see the same thing happening to them. I'm not quite ready to let go of both of them at once.

I know what you mean, Keith's grandfather died in Dec of 06'-Just a sweet minister of God, but everyone had such a hard time after he was gone. He had such a strong influence on his children and grandchildren (although some of his children were alread in their 60's) he was 84 when he died.
