Here's a good reason CB1 you get some of the posts from former UPC members - - this just gets old.
I just usually try to handle it by ignoring it, but just as you have started this thread because it's how you feel, there are some here that state how they feel about always being told they are lost or don't have the Holy Ghost because they look different.

I love you Renda just the way you are and so does Jesus!

I go to a UPC church and I am a very loving person. I try never to say unkind words to people on AFF or anywhere else. And I try not condemn and judge or pre-judge people. As I know personally the pain of that. If it does not uplift anyone it hurts them, so think before you speak might be good for us all.
Great post...It's best to leave the judging to God.

I have been called charismatic because many posts are about love...even to the point of receiving e mails telling me that...
I love you Sister Alvear...don't ever change. BTW, how is Chad's car running? How is the man in the village doing that Chad saw before the accident?

It just seems odd to me that someone has to proclaim your love for the UPCI.
Dimples,
The proclamation was just a reaction to all the bashing of the UPC that has gone on here on AFF.

I have grown increasingly frustrated with posters bashing the UPC. I totally understand that many have had some very negative and hurtful experiences while attending a UPC church; however, holding on to the pain while tearing down the organization at every chance hasn't done anyone any good.
I have experienced hurt too and I thought that I would never go back, but I realized that if change was every going to occur it would be better orchestrated from within.
Instead of bashing the UPCI why not pray for your local church and the leadership? Stop hating and start loving!!!
Dear Chosen,
This is one of the best posts I have ever seen. Since I know some of your hurt and frustration, I know that what you said is from your heart - it would have to be.
I agree with the concept that we cannot orchestrate change except from within. You have no influence from without. There are many things to consider though. I will not elaborate.
I do agree that we should pray for pastors and leadership. I have made it a practice of mine to be an armour-bearer in prayer for leadership. They are in a no-win situation. No matter what they do, decision they make, another always has a differing opinion, or would have done it a different way.
Since it is God who puts people into position, it will be God who takes them out...case in point: King Saul & David. I think the safest side to be on is the side that David took...he refused to take King Saul out even though he had already been anointed King by the prophet at God's command.
God's timing is everything. Love can resolve situations that appear insurmountable. Love always wins.
Let me preface this by saying I do understand what you are saying CB1.
However, at times, I believe there has been too much emphasis put on UPCI. Why do we have to defend the UPCI? Why do we have to state we love the UPCI?
I don't believe I have heard other denominations declare their love for their organization as much as I have seen it around here for the UPCI.
When is the last time you heard someone say I love AOG or I love the Methodist?
Would it be more appropriate to say we love the people of the UPCI?
The AOG and the Methodists orgs don't have the mud slung at them as often.
Another appropriate thread might be.. I love the Trinitarians.
My whole beef is this... AFF is supposed to be Apostolic Friends Forum. There was an exodus recently of some very conservative, and some very liberal have returned.
My goat is "got" when on a thread such as 'Paul's letters... holy writ...' someone suddenly has to sling mud at the UPCI... it's manual, it's good men... etc.
That gets my goat... why is that needed? Most threads don't need the initials UPC even mentioned, but all too often they are, and usually in a negative light.
So often I just feel like saying.. "Get over it.. or get over us.." or something.
You see wonderful sweet people on here who left the org years ago who don't dwell on it... and don't feel the need to constantly pick, correct, degrade or any other such thing... they are over it!!!
AFF will have to soon become AFF or Mrs. LPW will have to find somewhere else to have adult conversation during her many days with two under two!

It just seems odd to me that someone has to proclaim your love for the UPCI.
Again... someone bashes your particular church, or church group enough and you'll get tired of it too...
That's also another point I would like to make.
Those who love to take pot-shots and make snide remarks, or even veiled humor aimed at us who are part of AFF and still belong to UPCI churches... why don't you just imagine for a bit that someone is continually aiming at your group... your church, your pastor, your preachers, your articles of faith.... see how long you'd sit on the Apostolic Friends Forum and not respond.
The UC's have left... there really is no need for it to come from either side any longer. IMO
