I commend Alex for his love of the truth and to see the Saints perfected. If we are all just humans what does that say for the Pentecostal distinctive doctrine of the glorious baptism in the Holy Spirit?
The Spirit as taught in scripture enables the body to
PERFORM the will of God.
9: But ye are not in the flesh,
but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10: And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11: But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also
quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12: Therefore, brethren, we are debtors,
not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
Rom. 8:9-12
Some theres more to the Christian than flesh or body. Paul says we are
NOT in the flesh but in the Spirit. Also the Spirit
QUICKENS the
MORTAL not "dead" body.
Then theres the matter of truth. Does having the baptism in the Spirit have promise that you can know the truth?
13: Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will
guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
John 16:3
20: But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye
know all things.
21: I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
1 John 2:20-21
