Me too - exceeding the fun limit!

However, I'm happy where I am and I don't have to move.

I have no interest to return to the UPCI although I have my moments of nostagia for the good ole days of fellowship we enjoyed there. The fellowship has always been great as long as you had the card in your wallet, but the constant need to distance oneself from their extreme teachings and their penchant for cursing everyone who doesn't preach Acts 2:38 as the gospel made for an discomfort level I wouldn't want to return to.

I agree with those who have observed that the UPC has seen its best years as an organization. It's sad. but unfortunately true. From what I am hearing, it seems that the very ones responsibile for pushing through the AS in order to get rid of us liberals, will themselves be making an exodus. Perhaps if the UC's leave, the UPC would become a more balanced group that I could feel more comfortable with.
LOL!! Now you know she'd love it!!

My Pastor is UPCI but our church is a black sheep among 58 churches in the area. They don't fellowship our church because of it's more liberal dress code. I would be more comfortable if our Pastor would hand in his card...or if it would return to conservative dress code...I again feel alienated from identity with the group.

Well Rhoni...same here..not sure how many churches in our state but we too are the liberla black sheep.

We recently voted to disaffiliate but are still a UPC, non affiliated, as are over half of UPC churches.

The only reason that I and many others in our church are still here that is that we have changed, Dropped our standard, as the UltraCons say.

I agree with MOW PianoMan and others, the UPC has seen it's best days long ago in my opinion.

I remember hearinng it screamed from the pulpits years ago. "We have got to win the lost or God is going to get someone else to do it."

Well guess what ..that prophecy has come to pass.

Gospel of Christ or Gospel of Standards...which do you preach?

I agree with MOW. We are so much more effective being independent. People just don't want those walls up, and no matter how much you try to make them feel wanted, they still feel walls when you are a part of any denomination. Being non-denominational lets everyone know that they are welcome.

Your church has been in that same situation for at least 15 years, probably closer to 20 or more!

I know you did some checking when you moved so I assume you knew the church situation before you became a member?

well done.

Time to back off the meds Fred!!!! Carpenter started this thread not Coop. (the mistake is understanable though because it has a very Cooperish title)
Read these words in the tune of Jimmi Hendrix "Purple Haze"
Cooper Haze all in Ferd's brain , he's thinking things that just don't seem the same.
