Sherri. Glad I read your post before I said something. Its exactly my thoughts. If its wrong the rest of the yr, then its wrong at Easter. Wouldnt anything else be a double standard?

I so hate the ignorance of some...I could preach a sermon but who would listen?

Better yet elder, don't celebrate Easter, celebrate Passover. We are in the Christian business, not the pagan business.

II Sam 10: 4-5 When Davids men were captured by Hunun, their captors shaved off half of each mans beard. ( yes they ALL had beards)

To be without a beard was considerered a shame ( you know a like a women who had her shorn to humilate her, was a shame)

Rather than just shave off the half beard that was left and then go home, they were told to stay at Jericho, till their beards grew back out. They were ashamed to be without their beard.

We speak of gender distinction between the sexes.... BEARDS are the true bible distinction between the sexes NOT DRESSES AND PANTS.

In our American culture today, the beard is no longer considered a salutation, it's no longer a custom to swear by it.
The decisiion to have a beard today should be a Rom 14 thing..totally up to you to decide to wear one or not, It's NO PREACHERS BUSINESS. Go worry about something sinful if you need sermon matereial.

The only thing sinful about facial hair or beards on men today is that some of us have made an isssue out of it.

Some have made it salvational or a test of fellowship. That is SINFUL to do that.

I was always taught that a woman who trims her hair was going against nature. One day as I was shaving I got this revelation that I was also going against nature. I still shave but quit preaching a double standard. I bet the men who opose beards also believe women trimming their hair is against nature. God put the hair on our face for a reason, a divine design from God. A beard says that you're a man just like the pants you wear.

My point, if I have one , is our laughable inconsistency in our "STANDARDS" scripture's. (Oh how I hate to refer to them as such.)

We totally ignore the true teaching of Deut 22:5, thinking it is refering to a women wearing a dress (never pants) and imopose a law on our women.

Then we totally ignore the fact that every hebrew male had a beard, and that is a "shame unto him if he did'nt. If he shaved it off he may have been thought of as "light in his sandles"

No wonder...Grrrr never mind.

Men can wear beards for the Easter drama.
Women can wear pajama pants at home.
People rent the DVD's of movies they won't go to the theatre to see.
A sports game with someone who is good at what they do is a sin but churches get together and play sports together.

It is clear that people do not believe what they preach.

If people truly believed it was a sin for women to wear mens clothing then they wouldn't be wearing pajama pants.... what sin ceases to be a sin when it is indoors?

If they believed it was a sin (or even just wrong) to wear a beard then they certainly wouldn't do WRONG in recognition of Christs death.

If sports is a worldly entertainment then... guess what... it is a worldly entertainment... burn your bats.

People will railroad you to hell if they hear you went and saw Happy Feet at a theater but wait until it comes out on DVD baby....

What's going on?

Their desire to preserve culture, save face & be one of the guys is in struggle with what they truly believe in their heart if they would just be honest enough with me, themselves and God to admit it.

As a pastor from my past used to say... "Be a pig or a pup"

Yes. Or we could dig a whole and stick our heads in a little further.

I remember you post from FCF, and well remember your wisdom on the subjest of alllowing a man in your church with facial hair.
