Um...yea, sometimes. But then you almost have to defend the UPC in that manner against those who polarize to a ridiculous extent and so it would appear your view is decidedly rose colored. I was thinking about that lately...

My Answer: not being swarmed at the altar with people trying to pray me through. Seriously. I've stopped practising the standards and wouldn't follow them again (actually, only one standard - I wear pants now).

It wasn't standards that caused my departure, mostly burnout.

I wanted to address your experience and travels contrast with mine.

Around here, no one can agree, there are alliances of ministers that are disrespected and disregarded in the district, some are outer space conservative, some are a little more moderate but encapsulated because they don't like anyone else. The district is fractured, if you could even call it a district anymore.

What is very pecular is the fact that ALL these churches are pastored by tremendous men...I think a combination of EGO, jealousy, history, and other immature notions act as the 5,000 lb wedge that people have grown tired of trying to remove.

When Thad talks about CA, it reminds me of here.

So what have you seen???
