Ron I understand where you are going with this, but there has to be a line drawn with good reason. Just to say it is about pride, would be to tell men they can no longer wear ties, as that is an unnecessary ornament, if you will.

Can that cause men that have jobs requiring suits and ties a problem? Yes it can.

It makes sense to me that some people don't want to wear jewelry as they feel for them it is a sin. And they have scripture they use to support their belief.

It also makes sense to me that some people do want to wear jewelry as they feel for them is is not a sin. And they have scripture they use to support their belief.

The more I see and study these things out the more I see you really need to seek out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Some areas I see that can be a concern about buying jewelry is that most of the good stuff is really expense. This is an issue with my husband. Before I was back in church he bought me jewelry for Christmas. Now he says he never knows what to buy me.

And we can always say that could have been given to the missionaries, but honestly we could say that about everything. Those fries you had with that hamburger could have gone to the missionaries.

My point being folks are going to have to develop their own relationship with God. The things of this world can draw you away from that relationship.

Too much time spent on the internet. Too much time spent playing golf, or fishing, or shopping. These are things of this world. Not everything "thing" is an object of value; such as homes, jewelry etc.

We need our foundation to be what pleases Jesus! Not what pleases man. JMO

It has shifted and does continue to shift, furthermore those who have any inclination are ridiculed for that stand.

If (libs) feel so liberated by there stand, they won't mind those of us who do think there is an issue with it.

Look, I don't start these threads, nor do I rarely post in them cuz they are unfruitful.

You do have a point in clothes, I have a problem with preachers & $1,000 suits.

I have only wore 3 brand new suits in my life & I never paid more than $150 for one.

Most of my wardrobe was given to me by others, & others I found good buys at Value Village! Some with the new sticker on it.

I don't know if posting these things are even worthwhile discussions.

I try to live as modestly as possible.

Makeup & Jewelry only serve to highlight self.

What about combing your hair? Tucking in your shirt? Wearing deodorant? Ironing your clothes? All of those things are done to make yourself more presentable to others. The fact is there is nothing in Scripture that hints at forbidding Jewelry when taken in context, so when preachers forbid it they are going beyond Scripture and adding to what God requires.
