The art of compounding herbs, spices, etc was practiced by both the good and the bad. It was used by magicians, physicians and pharmacists. The art was practiced to formulate the incence used in altar of incence the holy place. ( Ex 30:25; v 35; 37:29 ; Ecc 10:1)
It is referred to as the art or work of the apothecary.
