I hate to be this jaded, but I do think many things have been preached historically to keep control of a congregation. "Don't ask any questions, just do as I say." I don't think it has anything to do with ignorance, just calculated methods to keep people out of trouble. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing as long as you acknowledge that it is not all BIBLICAL.
Well, some of that is true(control factors)but in all seriousness, many of them were Praying people, much more then the leaders of today.Because they were poor, they really had to depend on God. some of them
didn't have a lot of man's education, but they were very deep in the spirit.
I was around a lot of old saints and I see the difference in today's typical minister(in general- don't want to stereotype) and what I saw then.

Honestly, Ron, I'm not against wearing rings. I don't wear them, but it doesn't bother me if others do. The only thing I can say is, I've seen people with huge stones that are filled with pride, so really, material things can garner pride in some people.
I think if we don't stay focused on seeking Him and the anointing He can bring, we will not find what breaks the yoke.
All these other issues become secondary and less important the stronger He becomes in our lives.
That may be in the States, but in Canada (at least my home Church) they preach Biblical principles.
That doesn't need legislation.
Our Pastor also used to say Vancouver, at 2 Million plus people is to big for me to play check up on you.
It's between you and God.
I understand - but I'm sure you know that everyone thinks that. "Oh, our church only teaches the Bible."
Scriptures can be interpreted in a lot of different ways to achieve a desired effect. Context and culture play a role, and if that is not acknowledged, I think it can be dangerous.

Hmmm. I think this entire post is a stereotype.
