Seriously though some of the higher end cars are more reliable, have a higher resale, and when taken care of actually pay for themselves in there longevity.

Yeah, what he said.

I could sell it, but I have looked at my options, and being that I know it is a reliable car, what I could get out of it wouldn't enable me to buy a car that would be as dependable.
These are just my personal feelings, I feel as Christians we have let ourselves get too caught up with the trappings of our society, and too over-laden with "stuff". I don't think that everyone is obliged to follow my convictions, and I try not to be too judgmental about it.

Sis, not to get argumentative here, but let me use your post as a springboard.
You say you have a conviction against buying a Cadillac.
However, God has graciously allowed someone to give you one.
But, how do onlookers know it was a gift? Most would think you purchased it.
So, wouldn't that be a violation of your convictions?
What about the verse that says to "avoid the appearance of evil"?
Just curious what other's thoughts are on the subject.

I agree that modest living is a good thing. I just don't think that living cheaply is the equivalent of modesty. Nor is it handling money wisely, IMO.

I don't think that buying a decent Ford or Honda versus a Hummer or Escalade handling money unwisely or living cheaply...

I'm just pointing to motives--you pointed out "attracting attention" as if it is a bad thing--I'm saying we attract attention when we dress up. Find another argument. (One that isn't so plain silly)

Dressing sloppy can draw attention as well. When you dress pretty much the same as those around you then you don't usually draw attention.

Care to elaborate on that?

Ironically, one of the meanings of the word "modest" in Strong's is "well wrapped", lol.

My question is why would God bless you with something you have a conviction against?

Yes. I started to but didn't.
If you go to a wedding you generally dress differently than if you are going on a picnic.
