This conversation is just a conversation. I lived next to good friend neighbor guy with an aarrhythmia, he choose NOT to chronically medicate. He had two spells that resulted in emergency services intervening but the underlying causes of the irregular heart beat where never resolved or even openly discussed/proposed by health care providers. Their protocol for these symptoms were to medicate until the end of life.
So I do not even know what other health and wellness options exist. One would have to be a fully independant health alternative zealot.
Clearly one option is just 'die' if the condition sets up that possibility. If eating synthethic chemicals for the rest of my life is the only option to provide life-extension (is that scriptural?), then I guess I can make an informed decision.
Does God expect me to take synthethic chemical compounds every day to presummably extend the number of days that my body will retain the spirit, in otherwords, is this God's expectation for my stewardship? My answer ---NO. With that thought, this is all about us being settled with the idea of DEATH and the preciousness that this death is in the sight of God.
So, without having a specific destination with this....
My answer to your challenge question:
Do NOT begin ingesting any sythethic chemical prescription unless:
1. you ask of your father in heaven for wisdom/understanding concerning the days of your life and your priviledge in him pertaining to this sickness, and that he will be glorified through your present suffering.
2. you have done due diligence concerning the impact that the synthethic chemical has on mortality rates and side-effects
3. you confess openly what lifestyle changes that you are NOT WILLING to do that would be an alternative approach to ingesting sythethic chemicals.
4. You have sought and received medical counsel for implementing an exit plan
5. you (or your trusted medical advocate) has fully understood the active elements in the sythethic chemistry you are putting into your own bloodstream related to: detoxification, dependance, mind-mood altering, and impact on normal bodily functions.
6. you ask and keep on asking your father in heaven for his wisdom and understanding concerning the operation of this infirmity in your life either until he gives you this understanding OR he definitively instructs you that HIS GRACE is SUFFICIENT for your season of suffering.
After that, you live your life with this chronic condition free of your heart condemning you because of guilt or the lack of a witness of a healing or a deliverence.
But please, don't attribute God's active/purposed hand to leading men to be delvelopers of sythethic chemcials that you must commit to purchase and then ingest or inject into your bloodstream for the rest of your life...all to be a recipient of his provision of well-being for your circumstance.

wow. that was quite an answer. it left me a bit perplexed. it seems to me that your answer is pray hard, study well and if you feel you want to live take the meds... just don't thank God your still alive.
Do I have that right?
let me give you some background.
shortly before Christmas 2004 my wife's OBGYN informed us that the child she was carrying had an abnormal heart rhythm. He sent us to a Parinatologist.
that Doctor told us it should clear by his due date Feb 6. 2005
Levi was born Christmas day 2004.
we spent a couple of weeks in NICU due to his being early. then we went home and as instructed, checked in with a Cardiologist.
It was discovered that Levi had a thing called Chaotic Atrial Tachycardia. his heart would race up over 300 beats per minute.
left untreated he could die.
treatment meant giving him very strong medication that has nasty side effects. The Doctor felt that there was a chance Levi could out grow it by age 1. if not, it was possible that major surgery would be required or worst case, nothing would help.
Now as a Father and a devoted Christian, what am I supposed to do? take my son to church and pray and believe its all going to be alright and simply ignore doctors?
I think most of the people I know would consider me unworthy of being a dad if I did that.
we prayed and we medicated and by age 9 months he was clear of any defect or arrhythmia. We count it to God that Levi's heart is perfectly fine today. We also make sure we have a yearly check up with the Cardiologist.
Now you can talk this wonderful game about how ingesting chemicals and altering body chemistry 'till the cows come home. I'm not bothered by that at all. I will tell you I thank God on a pretty regular basis that we had access to the top pediatric arrhythmia specialist in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. I thank God that man knew what to do to keep my little boy alive. I thank God for the medicine we gave him that allowed him the time needed for either God to heal or his body to mature. what ever the case I count it ALL to God as a blessing.
