The 5th Amen
The UPC is like having an uncle who can throw a football a mile, hit a golf ball 300 yards down the middle, dunk a basketball, he can cook lights out, play most every instrument, and tells the funniest jokes and stories, but when he sits down with everyone in the living room, he can't keep from scratching white stuff off his bare feet, picking at his scabs, doing imitations of Gomer Pile, Kermit the Frog, and Daffy Duck and telling your son, your daughter and you to come over here and constantly pull his finger...

I think he just breathed in too much of his uncle's finger-pulling product.

Cooper I used to think the same thing at one time get rid of the dress standards and I'd go back, but after being out for a few years now I can see there's a lot more wrong with their teachings than just that issue, their sickness goes much deeper than an outward thing.

What would it take for you to get back into the Mennonite or Amish faith?
The UPC is very similar to these other religions. They are stuck in a different era.
They claim that they have the truth, but they are completely off the mark in so many ways.
It is the most UN-United organization out there. They don't even believe that their brother down the road who is UPC, is preaching truth if he alows his saints to wear short sleeves...etc.
At the same time they are very nice folk. Just as the Amish live a very peaceful life, so do they.

It is unfortunte and your post bears this out, that the UPC has made an attempt to be totally and unequivocally separated, yet, unless they establish a community like the Amish, there is no way to be truly separated from the world.
I got a preacher pretty mad one day when he was telling me about how he believed in total separation, I asked him what kind of suit he was wearing, (He opened his jacket to show me the Name) and he read from the tag...I said to him that the person on the tag was most likely a homosexual and that a homosexual probably designed it.
What would it take for me to get back into the UPC?
For those locked into the culture to come out from among them and simply be honest with themselves.
