If one commits sin at ANY STAGE of his walk he is in danger as long as the sin is not forsaken. Anannias and his wife bear witness of this. They were new converts. They decided to do something wrong.

God used Peter to pronounce judgment upon them and they both fell dead the same day. Why? They commited a sin. Although Gods punishment usually does not come so dramatically nonetheless we have been warned by this and other Biblical stories that it MIGHT.

Forsaking sin is not an option even to the New Christian as Anannias and Saphira testify. We do continue to grow up into him in all things. Like his power. Like his zeal. Like his love. But as far as commiting sin the Christian should be taught they are dead to sin. The Christian should be taught that it is unusual for Christians to commit sin.
