If you would have opted for a french fry, you could have at least pretended it was cigarette!

Sorry, I was away for a minute. The fat from the Pork Chop made me so sleepy that I was in the kitchen gorging myself on some really unhealthy, temple-defiling, highly caffeinated black coffee to alter my mood and wake me up. I'm back. I may try the french fries in a bit. The only thing though, I can't have just one. I'll have to smoke... ugh... I mean eat a whole pack. I'll have to hurry though, I have to be at church to preach at 7:00.

Well, I'm enjoying it myself, but I too have got to go. I really need to get to church. We start in 2 hours and I seriously need to go spend some time in prayer. Everyone be blessed, be safe and by all means, don't smoke or eat pork or beef or white bread or rice or chocolate or... Well, just don't eat! At least not until we get the menu perfected...

Cigarettes, chewing, dipping, cigars, pipes do not have any benefit to our bodies nor are they neutral, they only harm.

ATTENTION PLEASE
Nearly anything can harm the body in some way.
I think we're failing to address the Scriptures in context. I've repeatedly seen this verse quoted....
1 Cor 3:16-17
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. Give it context...
I Corinthians 3:1-23
1And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
2I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
3For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
4For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?
5Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?
6I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
7So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
8Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
9For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
10According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
16Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
18Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
20And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
21Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your's;
22Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are your's;
23And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's. We have to ask...what is the subject that Paul is addressing in this chapter?
It's obvious when reading the ENTIRE chapter that Paul isn't talking about physical health or our physical bodies at all. Paul is addressing division within the Corinthian church. The church is the body and corporately the church is also the temple of God, made with living stones. In being divisive one defiles the body (the church) with pride, hatred, and arrogance. Those who defile the body (the church) through division and arrogance will be destroyed by God...because the body (the church) is the holy and spiritual temple of God.
Please tell me...why do we use this verse to address physical health while totally ignoring it's context?

That has NOTHING to do with this subject. If everyone was a glutton it would not make adultery alright.
Smoking is a sin and no one saved smokes period. A glutton can ease up onm their eating a smoker cannot just ease up on their smoking it is not the same.

I like the way brother Epley put it. No one saved smokes.
I am sure in 123 pages it has already been said that addiction is what will ........ a person, not smoking in and of itself...although it is a putrid, disgusting, and filthy.
Any addiction is a worship of flesh.
I remember our church softball team, a few of us went into a Conoco just before and low and behold they had a spearmint leaf chew...We thought we were so cool putting a pinch of mint between our cheek and gum spitting...it was kind of silly actually...I used to chew Beech Nut in the Summers and College playing baseball.
