Bro. Epley,

Don't go. You have softened your posting...never compromised...but have 'softened'.

Blessings, Rhoni

Not sure how that one can be turned around, since there were "conservatives" before there were "liberals"... but okay.

That is absolutely correct. From my perspective it's the so-called "cons" who start in with the name calling. Then when you stand up to them, they get all passive/aggressive and start saying things like, "Well, then I guess I'll leave if nobody loves me..."

Is this thread a cry from a desperate and lonely heart looking for love and acceptance? Or is it a passive/aggressive sort of threat intended to manipulate? Or is it something else all together? I honestly don't know.

But when a poster is known for attacking the beliefs of other posters with absurd allegations a sweeping generalizations it's hard for me to jump right into the Pity Party. If you can't engage people in an intelligent discussion, then maybe you don't need to leave - maybe you just need to sit and listen for a while.

Despite the informal nature of this forum, there are some very complex issues that get discussed. Issues that are not easy for even learned academics to sum up in a pithy little post. To really understand where someone is coming from you have to be willing to listen - in this case, to read what they're trying to say. And then politely ask questions about points that you don't quite follow.

For example: The so-called "One Step" position states that people are saved at repentance. When someone states that view - how can you "Three Steppers" honestly say things like, "Well I guess you don't believe baptism is essential..."? Especially after all of the discussion that's gone on.

It just doesn't seem like you're paying attention to what is being said. Instead you throw out a totally irrelevant one-liner and look for someone to slap you a high-five. Wake up.

Pay attention - or maybe, find something that does hold your interests. No one's holding a gun to your head, either way.

I have enjoyed and endured discussions since FCF I have met some nice folks from here I would never agree with we have met and lunched. Adino who is 180 degrees from me doctrinally came to hear me. But I am wondering if he is not just saying the heart of the others that is the reason for this post. No other. I count Rico a friend so I am not attacking him we have fussed for years.
It's amazing how you guys take a ball and run with it. LOL! What I was saying, Brother Epley, is if people aren't happy being members of AFF because of all the different beliefs expressed here, then maybe they would be happier posting on the more conservative boards. You seem to be happy with posting on AFF, so why would you consider leaving?

Good luck with that, PP.

That's an interesting angle - but I'd have to disagree.

Go through the old Oneness Pentecostal writings and check out what they belived. Look at the writings of AD Urshan, John Deering and others. Look through some old photographs.

You will see that those who are being called "Liberals" here are the real descendants of the founders of the OP movement. The "cons" didn't really get their start until around WW2.

Thoise discussion were out the ceiling with brilliant though diverse minds. We fussed over everything. I came on very pointed(some was for shock I admit) but we had fun. Since the changing many who were posters from both sides no longer or very seldom post. But some of us have fussed for years now until we are all very predictable. But honestly I like those folks on here and have prayed for them. I have lunched with CC1 & Pianoman they are gentlemen and I personally like them. We agree on very little. Adino who I tease as being a Lutheran(although I am afraid it might be more truth than error) came to hear me in MI. I nearly had my head taken off for eating with AB who I worry about. Then those I have not met personally I also enjoy the fuss. However if I have become to obsolete for the forum I will leave relutantly but I will comply.
See? You like it here. That's the difference.

You know, I've never seen Daniel and Mother Theresa together at the same place and at the same time...
