It's easy when it isn't yourself you're talking about. I know the worst thing that could have happened with my parents would have been for them to get back together. I didn't see it until I got old enough to see my parents through the eyes of an adult, but those two NEVER should have gotten married in the first place.
I asked both my parents why they got married. My mom's response was that she wanted to get away from my Grandpa and his controlling ways. My dad's response was that there was a running a bet among the young men in church over who could convince my mom to get married. Dad won the bet. Hearing their reasons for getting married probably hurt me more than anything else I've heard them say over the years. I was hoping at least one of them would say it was because they loved the other. That's the reason why I married Sister Honey Smooches, and that's the reason why I stay with her through the bad times. I love her, period.
