I firmly believe that water baptism in Jesus name is a covenantal act signifying the washing away of sin and identifying us with Christ's burial. I believe it is a COMMAND and to neglect it is to be in rebellion. But I don't know if it "washes" away any "sin substance". That rings of baptismal regeneration.

Peter seems to be in emphatic agreement (
1 Peter 3:21). Whether he's talking about it being pointless to wash off "real" dirt or some imagined "sin substance" - he says "
