Re: The Raven Apologizes

I think you are missing his true message! Ever hear of passive aggressive behavior?

The Raven used a Thesaurus to post his "apology." Yeah, it is "verbose." So that he can display is superior intelligence and condescend toward all the simpletons.

A simple, "I am sorry" would suffice, instead he wrote dribble.

Re: The Raven Apologizes

Raven,

I was going to post that you must have worn out your Thesaurus composing your apology post but I see Uboat77 already pointed that out in the post above.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

This is not an apology, this is an insult. FYI.

Re: The Raven Apologizes

Satire and sarcasm don't always get translated correctly in forum land........some might even mistake them for a real apology.

Well, unless duplicity has a new meaning that I am unaware of... in a word, no.
