I'd rather sail in the wrong direction a few times and let the Lord lead me back on path than to sit safely in the harbor and go nowhere.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
That's why I said sometimes. I am progressive enough to grow and adapt, but I don't trust human nature enough for me to become too free with my rudder. I guess not having an anchor is cool if you plan to perpetually stay asea.

Good question. I think I would rather just be the boat and allow Him to control the anchor and the direction.
Yes, because without Him we are anchorless and rudderless.

But we can't all continue to be in the same boat or the libs will get totally frustrated when the boat won't move because the cons are anchoring it. So.....the libs have to rent another boat and jump overboard and swim to it so they can take off once again down the river. Then everyone lives happily ever after.
In my case there is an anchor AND a powered rudder/propeller inside me...
I am often torn to smithereens!

To be honest I think that the original analogy did capture the inherent flaws in being extreme in any direction. The overly conseravative do endeavor to be an anchor and are resistant to God's moving. While it is the nature of the overly Liberal to want to be the direction setter in the first place. They are both equally instances of man wanting to control too much. Either position is dangerous and can lead to someone being far away from where God really wants them.

I don't think I would want to be in a rudderless ship,
nor would I want to be in one that is dragging its anchor.
There must be some moderate place there in between those two extremes.
